Corner Flourish

This Old House

The Turner House kitchen received a major facelift this spring. Layers of old vinyl, linoleum and rotten plywood sub-floors were removed and replaced with a beautiful oak floor. The original 1912 floor was wood (pine). We were excited to use salvaged flooring which saved us money and used an existing resource. The plumbing, wiring and cabinetry around the sink were all replaced. A huge thanks goes to Richard Fitzgerald, Winnetka Heights resident and owner of Triple J Construction, who donated all the labor for this project. Additional thanks go to our board members Marguerite Domatti, for donating a brand new refrigerator, and to James Prothro and Michael Anderson for their time and talents. Next project: painting Blake Salon in a period color.
